Young Professionals
As the youngest member of the Hartford City Council, Councilman Brinson is leading the way to encourage the City of Hartford to become a place where more young professionals want to live, work and play. He belives that the City of Hartford needs a partnership between the Hartford Public Schools, the business community, and the City of Hartford to develop policies, jobs, and other incentives to encourage our best to stay in Hartford and attract others to relocate to Hartford.
Employment
Corey Brinson is working hard to increase jobs in the capital city. Corey understands that in order to get jobs and businesses into the capital city we need to reduce taxes. He has been fighting to reduce the overall cost of government so that Hartford can develop a reputation as a business-friendly city. In addition, he will continue to be an advocate for all small and large businesses, so that we keep more jobs here in Hartford.
Taxes
Councilman Brinson is a member of the Hartford City Council's Planning and Economic Development Committee. He believes that Hartford can do more with less. In fact, he is leading by example. in 2011, he refused his City Council $15,000 salary to help the City of Hartford close a budget deficit. Furthmore, Councilman Brinson is fighting to provide free parking spaces downtown and working to enact legislation that would elminate the taxes on the first $5,000 of a vehicle in Hartford.
Education
Councilman Corey Brinson is a member of the Hartford City Council's Education Committee. He believes that we should have high expectations for every child in Hartford. As a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Corey Brinson believes that every child should be able to attend college regardless of his or her financial resources. Additionally, he believes students should be able to attend any school within the disctrict that a family believes is best suited for their child.
